Ulstein X-Bow June 30th, 2008  Ulsteinvik, Norway
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As oil exploration and oil production moves into deeper and more remote waters, the Ulstein X-Bow has been designed to satisfy the new demands of the offshore industry. Suitable for all kinds of heavy offshore operations, these highly powerful vessels have a hullform that is designed to give high bollard-pull, large cargo capacity, low noise, good trim and stability, and to ensure high operatibility, even under harsh weather conditions. Roll reduction systems are incorporated.

The principal advantages of the Ulstein X-Bow are:
Environment: The bow shape leads to higher transit speed and significantly less loss of speed in waves. The power consumption is reduced, thus improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions to air.

Comfort: The bow shape eliminates slamming and bow impact, thereby reducing noise and vibration. This leads to a more comfortable workplace for the crew, and effective time to rest is increased.

Safety: The bow shape gives a soft entry in waves, thus reducing spray and eliminating icing. The likelihood of extreme weather damage to the forebody will be reduced. The extended hull gives a safer workplace, and acceleration levels are low.

Volume: The bow shape leads to a larger volume displacement in the foreship.
